Teaching Experience

 

Experience—about 33 Years (including College and University Teaching.) Dr. Chakraborti joined the department of English, University of Kalyani on 8th November’1989 as Reader in English and in 2001 he was promoted to the post of Professor of English. Before joining the department of English, Kalyani University, he served as lecturer in English in S. A. Jaipuria College, Calcutta from 1975 to 1989.

International Workshops:

·         Two Week Visit to the University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Arkansas, U.S.A. as Visiting Humanities Scholar in February 2003. Conducted a week-long workshop for English department faculty on the poetry of Tagore. Lectured to Writing and Rhetoric classes on the problems of translation. Delivered lectures on Language Variations to Graduate Students of University of Central Arkansas and on Indian Freedom Movement and the Hindu Religion.

·         Participated in the International Shaw Festival in 1980 held at the campus of the University of Houston at Clear Lake City, Texas, U.S.A and made the Script Analysis of Bernard Shaw’s Major Barbara to the Actors and Actresses of the play under the direction of Professor Robert G. Everding.

 Seminars:

·         Presented a paper on Translation Theory in All India English Teachers’ Conference, held in Bhopal in 2001.

·         Presented a paper on Tehmina Durrani in the National seminar, organized by the department of English, Burdwan University in 2002.

·         Presented paper on Translation Studies in Institute of English, Calcutta in 2003.

·         Presented a paper at the department of English, North Bengal University in 2006. Title--- “Crisis of Muslim Identity: Chaman Nahal’s Azadi”.

·         Presented a paper at the department of English, Nagpur University on 20th September’2008. The title of the presentation: The Essentials of Indianness: Tolerance and Sacrifice in Indian Partition Fiction in English and in English Translation.
